I DID IT!!! I RAN THE 2017 NYC MARATHON!! Read below for more details on my journey..

On Nov 7, 2016, I decided to finally commit to myself in a whole new way and to go after a dream/goal I have had for myself for a while. It was on this day that I began running with the hopes of running the NYC Marathon in 2017.

Never did I expect how much I would grow, shift mentally and physically, and fall more in love with myself. (Check out my article Running Back To Myself.) Running was something I always said I couldn't do and wasn't good at. I struggled running down the street, let alone running a mile. Now, running has become something I look forward to and actually ENJOY!  

I am proud to share that I finished my first half marathon, the SHAPE Women's Half Marathon, on Sun April 30, 2017. It was such a magical experience running with thousands of women, having my family, friends, and students there to support me, and to finish something I never have imagined I could do. 

Next step is the NYC MARATHON!!! On Sun Nov 5, 2017, I will be running the marathon as part of the Solemates Team for Girls on the Run NYC. 

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. They teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games.

As a Solemate, my fundraising goal is $3,000. As a new runner and a woman, I feel very connected to the mission of this organization. The work they do to empower young girls is amazing. It is so important that we support our young women, for they are our future leaders!
